Labor Standards Act to ensure that men and women who perform
comparable work are paid comparable wages. This anti-discrimination

wages.
Pregnancy discrimination is an intolerable act that occurs
in workplaces throughout America. Expectant mothers are allotted
up to four months of disability leave according to California
laws. This leave may be used for pregnancy-related illnesses
or disabilities, the birth of the child, childbirth recuperation,
and other medical issues. Both state and federal law prohibit
prospective employers from discriminating against a woman
because of pregnancy or pregnancy-related illness or disability,
as a reason not to hire her.
